Cleopatra VII Philopator was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt and a sophisticated diplomat and politician. She formed strategic political and personal alliances with Roman leaders Julius Caesar and Mark Antony to preserve the independence of her kingdom. Her death marked the end of the Ptolemaic dynasty and the beginning of Egypt as a Roman province, signaling the close of the Hellenistic period. She is historicaly remembered for her intelligence, being a polyglot who was well-versed in philosophy and various sciences.
